In August of 1976, Ace Builders was launched as a sole proprietorship. A year later Jerry Overbeek joined his father's company, eventually taking it over 12 years later. Today Jerry and his wife Sue keep Ace Builders very active in the community. Ace has been a member of the Holland Home Builders Association since 1990, where Jerry served as the president in 1999. Jerry has also served on the Lakeshore Home Builders Association as a board member from 2008-2014, chairing the Legislative Committee during that time. As of 2014, Sue has taken responsibility for the day to day operations of the business and is currently managing the development and construction of Maplewood Village Condominiums.
Ace Builders' primary focus is on the construction of single-family homes, remodeling, and condominium development and construction. In 1992 Ace Builders developed 50 homes in the Holland Heights (Sterling Heights) area. Ace was a partner in the building phases for the 42 condominium units at Bayou Point in Grand Haven Township as well as 40 condo units at Summer Grove in Zeeland. In 2012, Ace Builders purchased land and developed 27 single family home condo lots in the Riley Woods Subdivision in Zeeland, also building most of the homes in that development. Currently, Ace is in the middle of the development of Copper Ridge Condominiums in Zeeland with hopes of the 22 units being completed in 2019. Ace Builders is also nearing final approvals for a condominium development on 40th Street in Holland, planning to enter the first of 46 units in the 2019 Parade of Homes in June.
Ace Builders not only works on single-family homes; they have also completed several large commercial projects (church and school additions), the general contractor for the offices of Timothy Glupker orthodontics, in addition to multiple new home construction projects over their 42 years of operation, throughout West Michigan.
